Dual Degree in Entrepreneurship: BTech + MTech (Entrepreneurship)
[Back to index]
[Back to index] IIT Jodhpur has an ongoing ‘Minor in Entrepreneurship’ (MiE) program for BTech students. This practice-oriented course enables students to gain preliminary concepts on entrepreneurship and apply them on their respective ideas and ventures. The M Tech in Entrepreneurship will allow the students who are interested in continuing to progress on their ideas instead of taking up a job through the placement process, to get additional time, inputs, feedback and guidance as also social legitimacy for their endeavours
The one year course will have the provision of allowing ME students to take up Entrepreneurship as their MTech specialization towards their Dual Degree (BTech + MTech).
[Back to index] The M Tech in Entrepreneurship will aim to make the students ventures ready for formal launch and / or incubation / angel funding by the end of the course. The program will follow a practice-oriented approach with mentorship from faculty and entrepreneurs who have launched their own ventures and have gained insights into the entrepreneurship process and ecosystem.

- During the midterm/end term evaluation of their minor area entrepreneurship programme, they need to pitch for their idea with a proposed business model (desirable extension of the project from the Minor in Entrepreneurship Program). Proposed venture can include other partners including medical graduates, MBA’s, Ph.D’s etc (partners need not be enrolled for any programme of IITJ, however higher weightage will be for teams having students/alumni of IITJ and AIIMSJ).
- A Coordination committee of minimum five members consisting of faculty from Management, Engineering/science or any relevant departments, an entrepreneur/IITJ alumni entrepreneur/angel investor/Incubator Manager/representatives from investor organisations, and AD-UG. The committee oversees the progress of the Minor in Entrepreneurship students from the beginning (6th BTech Semester) of the programme. The Coordination committee (might include a domain expert for the business idea concerned if necessary), selects and oversees the progress/evaluation (as per the outlines) of the MTech in Entrepreneurship programme throughout the program duration.
- The Coordination committee may choose to formulate a sub-committee to monitor and evaluate the candidate/s’ progress periodically. Evaluation would be through four or more presentations made by student/team in a semester.
[Back to index] Students enrolled for the dual degree will be eligible to receive M.Tech fellowship if they have UG CGPA above or equal to 8.0 or qualify in GATE. They will also be eligible for innovation fellowships offered by Technology Innovation Hubs, Incubators, angel investors etc. They can opt for any one of these. Funding may be for ventures proposed in selected areas.

- Continuing from the MiE (minor area) program where they have prepared PoC and presented the Business Plan, the MTech in Entrepreneurship will guide students towards development of MVP, its refinement and subsequent customer acquisition.
- Final evaluation for award of degree – will be based on IP’s filed OR pre-seed capital or seed-capital, or any other investment OR generation of revenue through customer acquisition.
- Students of MTech in Entrepreneurship will be eligible for a deferred campus placement up to one year from completion of the program.
